How does the word unscrambler work?
Type in the letters you have and the tool checks them against a dictionary of over 168,000 words. It returns every valid word those letters can spell — including shorter words that use only some of your letters — then groups the results by length so the longest, highest-value words are easy to spot.
Can I unscramble letters with a blank or wildcard?
This tool is built for the exact letters you hold. If you are playing Scrabble or Words With Friends and have a blank tile, use our Scrabble Word Finder or Words With Friends finder instead — both let you add a "?" as a wildcard that matches any letter.
Is there a limit to how many letters I can enter?
You can unscramble up to 15 letters at once, which covers every rack in Scrabble and Words With Friends and almost any anagram puzzle. The more letters you add, the more combinations there are, so very long inputs simply return more words.
Does it only find full-length words?
No. By default it finds words of every length your letters allow, from two-letter words up to the full set. If you only want words that use all of your letters, tick the "Use all my letters" box to switch to anagram mode.
Are the Scrabble points accurate?
Yes. Each word is scored with the standard English Scrabble tile values (the face value of every letter added together). The score does not include board bonuses like double-word or triple-letter squares, since those depend on where you place the word.
Is the word unscrambler free?
Completely free, with no account, no download and no limit on how many times you can use it. It runs right here in your browser on phone, tablet or computer.
