How do I use the Wordle solver?
Set the word length, then for each tile type the letter and choose its colour: green if it is in the right spot, yellow if it is in the word but the wrong spot, and grey if it is not in the word. Press "Solve" and you will see every word that still fits your clues, with the most common answers first.
Does it work for the regular 5-letter Wordle?
Yes. The length is set to 5 by default, which matches the standard daily Wordle. You can change it to anything from 4 to 11 letters for variants and other puzzles. Our own Wordle Unlimited game uses 6-letter words, so set the length to 6 when you are solving that one.
What do the three colours mean?
They follow Wordle's own system. Green means the letter is correct and in that exact position. Yellow means the letter is in the answer but somewhere else. Grey means the letter is not in the answer at all. Marking them accurately is what narrows the list down.
Why are some grey letters still appearing in results?
If the same letter is marked both grey and yellow or green elsewhere, the solver treats it as present, because a letter can appear once and be greyed in a duplicate slot. Only letters that are purely grey are removed completely.
Why does it show the answer ordered by how common a word is?
Wordle answers are usually everyday words, so the solver lists more familiar words first. The best guess is normally near the top of the list, but any word shown is a valid possibility given your clues.
Is the Wordle solver free?
Yes, it is completely free with no account or download. It runs in your browser on any device, so you can use it on your phone mid-puzzle.
